    First time drawing my weapon.

I do Private Investigation. I was hired to follow a husband by his wife who thought he was cheating on her. I got pics and video of him with another woman. This ruined the marriage and they got a divorce. Months later the husband saw me (how he found out who i was I don't have any idea.) He started yelling at me and came at me with a baseball bat.I drew my beretta pointed it at him and told him he needed to get back in his truck and drive away. Thank the lord he took my advise and left. I was scared out of my wits. Later i realized i didn't have a round chambered and he continued coming at me i wouldn't have been able to defend my self. I have since started carrying chambered and safety off. With a lot of practice i have gotten used to carrying like this.

Wow. Glad he backed off. You'd think it would have occurred to him that a PI might be armed.

Wow, Glad that worked out for ya. I keep my CW9 chambered and ready to take care of business, and highly recommend others do it too. Especially in a business like yours. Stay safe.

A lot of people insist on carrying without a round in the chamber. You came pretty damn close to having a tragic consequence for doing just that!

I am glad he figured a ball bat was no match for an empty gun and didn't come any closer.

Had you have been forced to pull the trigger, he more than likely would have been on you caving your head in by the time you realized what was wrong with your gun. There's nothing worse than hearing a "click" when you expect to hear a "bang!"

Try to get the phrase "scared out of my wits" out of your vocabulary. An unscrupulous prosecutor could take a simple phrase like that and try to twist it into you were not thinking clearly enough to know if lethal force was actually needed in a situation like that.

If you doubt that can happen, purchase Mas Ayoob's video "Cute Lawyer Tricks!"

I'm glad everything turned out OK! Nothing like learning from experience to drive a point home.

+! Anytime you are forced to defend yourself (firing or not), call the police and file a report. What's to stop this guy from calling 911 and telling them that some guy just pulled his gun on him for no reason. Now you are playing defense (again).

Well.... he charges a PI with a bat , when the PI is armed.... gets caught with another woman and blames the PI for telling his wife when his wife hired him. I'm always amazed at those people who blame their "self-created" problems on someone else. Duh.

Chambered round, at all times. Glad he was at least smart enough to stop when he did.

Someone earlier asked something along the lines of, "Why safety off?" I believe the Beretta firearms are DA/SA, so if he has the safety off, he's probably carrying with the hammer safely lowered and in DA mode - the long DA trigger pull acts as the safety. My CZ-75B can be carried the same way; round in chamber - hammer down - safety off. All you have to do is pull the trigger, and it's completely safe to carry in this fashion.
