How would you cope with an attack by a naked woman?

With her teeth in my flesh, and her raging in a possible chemical or psychotic episode, I'd doubt she'd be affected much by pain compliance. I'd be inclined to go for her airway to subdue her. Doubtful I'd shoot unless I really couldn't get a hand on her. But then, I'm 6'3 and over 300lbs, and have shoes as big as her.

A potentially fatal attack, potentially permanently blinding attack, and yet no one here is advocating a gun? A slit throat? A beat down at worst?

What about escalation of force?

If some young lady is beating, biting and abusing my 50 + year old wife, and I am afraid for her life (HIV, Rabies) why should I not use maximum force? A gun to the temple and a trigger squeezed? The Boker or Benchmade applied with vigor to appropriate points?

Because she is naked and obviously irrational for some unknown reason (drugs, psychosis, etc.) I shouldn't?

Am I misunderstanding the above responses and the original attack?

My take is that I along with most posters so far don't feel that getting a 120lb woman under control would be much of a problem. Some of us weigh almost twice as much if not more than this particular attacker.

In this instance once the man knocked the heck out of her she stopped her attack and went elsewhere, whether it was because of the oncoming law enforcement or her bell being rung is hard to determine.

Had the guy knocked the crap out of her first instead of calling the cops the wife might not have sustained the injuries she did. We really don't know.

I don't think that any of the folks posting that they would not immediately go to using a firearm are firm in their stance that they would never use a firearm for this type of attack, just that in this instance it probably was not called for.

Maybe I am reading the other responses wrong though.

I would have played nice until I got bit. Once that happened, all bets are off and it would be beatdown time for lil' ms. scrawny chick.
First move, straight thrust to the chin with my left palm, fingers in the eyes. Next, if she had hair, I would have run the same hand along the right side of her scalp and made the hardest fist I could with her hair in my hand. Then I would have twisted her head to my right with both hands as hard as I could while smashing her head onto the window/window sill.
If that wasn't enough, I would use my left elbow as a brace, press her back until I can get my grip on my crossdraw Swick and things start to get real ugly for her right about then.

The passenger seemed to have resigned herself to her fate, and the driver's initial response was to run away. Before even thinking about tactics you first need to have the will to fight for your life. Head butt her nose, gouge, claw, choke, bend fingers back, pull hair... anything but sit there and let yourself get mauled.

Based on the description and photo I dont think I would have been inclined to use my firearm in this situation. I would have shaken her from the vehicle and I would NOT have had my sunroof open. However, if hypothetically she got into my car and attacked my wife like that, I would have knocked her unconcious pretty quickly.

Also marajuana does NOT make people act that way. She was on something else or perhaps her mental health was hanging on by a thread. The M.O. of that attack sounds like she probably smoked a blunt laced with PCP. I would love to know about the full toxicology results. The marajuana was the "carrier" of something more potent I'm sure

I'm glad they're ok, but they both look like reasonably healthy adults who should have been able to avoid and/or fend off the attack. They just were just asleep at the wheel, figuratively and literally.
Hope this was a wake up call for them.

Dude needs to learn how to use the emergency brake to fling someone off the hood. I think blinding someone counts as grave bodily harm. At that point, Bang. Maybe what's supposed to work with dogs would've worked - stick a finger up her butt :).

If they had a small stun gun in the car, as soon as the girl started coming in, they could have grabbed the girls leg, and held the stun gun against it and lit her up until she was out of play, then called the cops.

Pepper spray, unless it's the gel-type, would get all over the car, you'd be coughing for a week until you shop vac'd the daylights out of the vehicle. A good reason to find some gel.

I'm thinkin, I'd grabbed something a little more substantial and begin to tuggin on um. Once I had the crazy girls attention, I let her know, that she just put herself in a man's position and she damn well might need to fight for her life. But that's just me.

Inside the car with the person on top of your wife? That is a pretty confinded space with a lot going on to be certain that you could place all the rounds where you wanted without any damage to yourself or your wife. Three people in the front of an automobile doesn't leave much room for drawing, pointing, much less for error.
