That's a good idea too, especially since installing such a switch is pretty inexpensive and easy these days. The only problem I see is that it wouldn't take a thief (prepared one anyway) more than a few seconds to knock the glass out of a center top garage door window, reach in, and pull the emergency release cord. For that reason, were I really concerned, I'd go for an electronically activated dead bolt.

(And if I were truly concerned, the dog's igloo would go in the garage as well. )

FWIW, I've had stuff stolen from my garage on two different occasions, at two different homes. In both cases I made it very easy for the thieves. I left the door up while I was inside eating lunch.

how many of you with auto garage door openers can hear them operate from inside your home? IF I had a home with an attached garage, I would get the loudest and noisest opener I could find as I would want to hear it if it shouldnt be opening!

Another good point. We cannot hear our garage door open. It would be easy to put a buzzer on the opener that alerted us when the door was activated.
