The ten dollars they put into him AKA, rounds, Saved us tax payers millions in defense (court fees) medical and housing (prison costs) for the next 65 years. Great job. Next time just 5 rounds save us tax payers on bullets.

According to a LEO friend of mine the officer on the left took one to COM as he exited his vehicle and that is why he fell backwards. Thank goodness he was wearing a vest!

Seems reload times for both LEO's was hampered by their guts. Instead of just grabbing the fresh mag, they have an extra step in there: move belly, grab mag. Glad it ended well, but seems as though both would be better off in their line of work being smaller targets.

You are correct..He was shot in the upper left torso, lucky he was wearing a vest. and THIS is why he fell back.

this was Kansas City Missouri and not Kansas City Kansas. which one can see on the police car in the video.
The shooter was on the ground still gripping his gun (which was pointed towards the officer)

and i also would like to include that the officers weight had nothing to do with ANYTHING of the shooting event.

The guy was driving the suv in the first part of the video, i dont remember what he was the orginal call.

I would not say that this is entirely true.....I know a deputy that ws shot in the face. The suspect had been running while he fired two shots. Luckily it was a small caliber. Another deputy from my old department was also shot in the face by a suspect. So saying that bad guys don't hit what they shoot at is completely accurate....if this was case their would not be many dead cops today.

I knew it! They way he fell / jerked back looked like he had been shot rather than tried to get to cover.

That really goes to show things aren't always what they seem. I agree, thank goodness for vest! I'm also glad to be wrong about his weight causing him to fall.

That's what the K.C. news channels were reporting. The big guy took one to the chest.

Good thing he had on a vest.

    Police Shootout Video!

    Fellow Warriors,

The attached video of a police shoot out in Kansas City is the reason we train for the real world. Please note while the first officer stays in the fight, the second officer in this video is moving towards the attacker and the sound of gun fire. I admire his courage and warrior sprit. He may have saved his partners life.

We will never know why the subject attacked the officers. But we know why the officers prevailed. The stayed in the fight!

I take it the BG was permanently neutralized?

    Yes he was SABER

That second officer was laying down some serious fire!

I still think the 1st officer would have handled it on his own, but back up is always nice.

Glad to see that both of them are doing well and back to work!

Oh yeah, you could definitely tell the first officer was hit. He looked like he was able to come back around and nail the perp at least once which put him down and allowed the other officer to move up and pin him back down if he got back up. He definitely pinned him down with 5 rounds of something. Glad to hear those brave officers were ok. Intense stuff.

wow, just saw the whole video for the first time
    wow
both of these officers are real lucky they are alive, officer that drove by the BG could have been shot as he drove by
first officer to make contact is lucky since he stopped his car so close to the BG getting a gun out, then after the officer went to the ground the BG was on the left side of his vehicle with a clear shot at the officer....maybe his gun jammed? maybe he just suicidal by cop?

I don't think the second officer was out of line by firing when he did in the proximity to his partner....he had to at this point...no choice

just wondering and thinking through this for my own education/training....... my training makes me not understand why they didn't put one in his head to end this thing.....the guy already shot an officer, they put multiple rounds in him and he still had the gun still POINTING at the first officer 10 feet away, the THREAT is still there and this gunfight is NOT OVER at this point, IMO....there was no more talking required, he was not complying, still had gun, was still conscious, and when I do the math on that it equals end the threat no matter what
I have a quote in my list of inspirationals that I got from somewhere that says: When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk.
I think they had to shoot

next, the officer that did the mag change may have performed a tactical reload not an emergency reload; if not then he has some equipment issues that need to be resolved, that mag change took way too long

kudos to them for surviving, and hopefully this experience provided them with with some learning points for the future

Normal day, punctuated with 30 seconds of stark terror!

The only way to win is with training and mindset to stay in the fight to the end.
