You're welcome here in Texas any time! My Father is retired from the DA's office then private criminal defense in Los Angeles. He plans on moving here sometime this year.

Things are really nice here. I grew up in L.A. and Pittsburgh with a couple years in Boston thrown in there. I've been in Corpus Christi, Texas for almost 7 years. We'll be moving to Austin this year, but I can't see ever moving out of Texas unless it's to Florida.

As for the opening post, I'd carry pepper spray (as I do now) and a something like an ASP baton.
Proven combat techniques may not be flashy and may require a bit more physical effort on the part of the shooter. Further, they may not win competition matches, but they will help ensure your survival in a shooting or gunfight on the street. ~Paul Howe

Fully auto pellet gun using compressed CO2. It would be the size of an M&P compact and fire 80 .20 caliber expanding pellets before needing a re-load. Pellet gun technology would be where all of the focus is now days.
Speak softly, and carry a big stick.

Pepper spray, a nice leather sap, and a good fixed blade knife. That pretty much covers the force continuum. Wouldn't hurt to add a nice sword cane.

i'd carry some kind of long sword, most likely a katana, plus a short sword as a BUS (back up sword), probably a wakizashi or gladius/kopis type blade. impact weapons would als be a consideration. impact weapons, as in warhammers or maces.

BTW -- under that wool bonnet there is a steel bonnet (you can see the edge of it over my left ear) & I am wearing a jack-o-plate under the shirt.

Although not on this ride, sometimes I also rode w/ a lance.

BTW2 -- as at my age, I can no longer pull the 90# bow, I'd need to lighten it up a bit.
Looks to me like you are all set for that trip to Walmart!

I would carry that bubble gum from the first Mission Impossible movie. "Dosvedanya, don't get any on ya."

That and a Hunga Munga. Bet no one else will pick that. It looks scary as crap. Even someone with a gun might run from it.
