    Robbed at the ATM

An employee of mine told me that he was robbed at the ATM yesterday. He looked over the area before he pulled up to the ATM. He pulled up as close as he could to the ATM. He had a 9mm pistol in his car. As his money came out of the machine someone ran up to him and grabbed his arm and took the money. By the time he was able to grab his pistol the dirt bag was running away. He said for a few moments after he pulled up he was looking inside his car and not paying attention to his surroundings.

Goes to show you it only takes seconds.

Why did he grab his pistol? Was his life in danger? This is one of those scenarios where I'd almost rather not have my gun on me, as lethal force would not be justified here. It's just money, be thankful you get another day.

Exactly the reason I don't use ATMs. And, in FL, he couldn't have used his gun because the threat to his life was over once the BG turned and was running away. Too late to do anything at that point. During the act of the robbery, okay, afterwards, no.

Why grab your pistol? Because you don't know if the dirt bag is going to kill you after he steals your money.

Well here is a different spin on this, Do you grab your money as soon as it comes out?? If you delay this action,, You won't like the outcome,, I was with my friend inside a convience store,, at the ATM,, He turned to ask me if we needed more cash for the rest of the day, And the ATM took it back!! The bank says it on a timer if you do't take it soon enough.. Now have to go to the Bank and all that jazz,, Now the Bank says they can't get into it,, till tomarrow,,, Moral of the story grab the cash!! LOL

Moral of the story. Don't use an ATM unless it's in a safe area.
I've discovered when I go to the grocery or W/W and use my debit card, the machine asks if I want cash back. I'll take $100. No service charge, you're in a (relatively) safe environment, and it can never keep your card.

I often work late hours, and need cash on the way home for bills, etc.
ATM is the only option, which I have no problem using at any hour.

fine points, just showing the gun would make the BG run, but you have to HAVE the gun on you

Someone just tried that in Greenville,NC about a month ago little did he know he ran up on an off duty deputy sherrif and got his behind killed. No charges were brought against the deputy and guess what, he had a piece of wood carved out in the shape of a gun.
