this is why I refuse to disarm at work and leave my weapon in the car. They have had cars broken into in our parking lot before, no way I'm leaving my XD in my car.

First off, welcome to the forum.
You already have the answer you need. What you did and told your co-workers was the correct thing.
Why confront armed assailants if there is another option. Remember a screwdriver/pry bar/hammer or whatever is a formidable weapon, especially if your unarmed. With the mind set of many criminals today, they would as soon kill you as spit on you. No need to put yourself in that kind of situation if there's another choice.

He'll get there. Fact is, he's thinking along the lines we want people to think - punctuation takes back seat to common sense in my book.
RoosterBob, the folks here *do* value standard English, and you'll find that the folks in authority (bosses and judges, for example) do as well. You will find that any effort spent in learning and using standard English will be more than paid back. I fault your school system primarily; that said, you're stuck with your skills as they are right now and you have the opportunity to develop your skills in the months and years to come. I would encourage you to build on your obvious good sense and responsible nature, and train yourself so your written words support who you really are instead of get in the way of your message.

Good job on being willing to go back inside and call the police if you encountered someone still in your car. As was said, nothing in your car is worth your life. It sounds to me as if you realize how quickly a situation could go bad, and that avoidance can be the absolute BEST decision, even if you end up losing some stuff.
Do you plan to get your permit?

To all who posted I thank you all for the replies. I also failed to metion my car was locked and they thieves gained entry by prying the drivers door lock.
there were no pry marks of any kind on my safe so i assume it was a smash and grab.
I also plan to get my ccw at the middle of Febuary and plan to carry 24/7 I just wanted to make sure I had the right mindset to do it and i think My calm and cool demeanor through this incident was proof enough
And as far the ribbing and humor i can take it as well as dish it i come from a big family
Thanks for the warm welcome all!!!

Roosterbob,
Welcome to the forum.
Sorry your stuff was stolen, but I think your attitude is right on.
Great job on the second post. Periods and paragraphs, and everything.

Roosterbob, I see that you're from Kansas City.
I would highly recommend Crossfire on East Truman Road for the CCW class.
They are VERY thorough.
