    Store security system goes nuts....

I walk into various stores around the city and on occasion the security system for shoplifters goes off coz of the barcode on my weapon. Does this happen to anyone else? I do the old double take at the door, look at the clerk and shrug my shoulders. They dont bother me after that, but I sure hope it doesnt happen as I go out, then Im a tough situation.

What kind of gun do you have that has a bar code and what store uses bar codes to scan for theft prevention? Not doubting, just never heard of either.

Usually it's because you have a RFID tag that hasn't been deactivated somewhere on you or your packages.

I don't begin to understand, but my son-in-law dropped his cell phone a few weeks ago and cracked the face plate just slightly and ever since then when he leaves wal-mart his phone sets of the security monitor, we were down visiting him and it went off when we were leaving wal-mart (not my favorite store, but theirs) LOL. Never heard of a gun doing it though, course I never heard of a phone doing it before either, but she scanned the phone and it did it with the hand scanner also.

What barcode on a pistol? It's not a mattress tag; remove it.

There's no electronic emission unless you have a laser on it, and that might be the problem.

And if it's anything like here, no one pays any attention to those stupid alarms anymore. They never get more than a shrug from the employees.

Most security scanners do not go off unless activated by an RFID tag. I highly doubt it is your firearm setting it off.

Never herd of a bar coded personal weapon. I have seen them on issue weapons before though, but that was just to make it easier on the guy signing out the weapons. My guess is you have a RFID tag hidden in some article you carry all the time and that is setting the detectors off.

Leave your gun in your car and walk through again. I bet it still goes off.

Then you'll have to start taking clothes off and walking through to find the culprit.

Barcodes can not set off the scanner . Rfid tags set off the scanner it is possible that the rfid is under the barcode. You have a rfid tag stuck somewhere on something.

    security scanner

The above advice is right on. The scanners are lookingh for a RFID tag.
I have carried since 1970 and never set off a security device except a real weapons detector at a Gov't office.
Where the H is a barcode on a gun?

I had one go off on the way into a store last week. First time it's happened. Bone stock G19 in a beltslide. No idea what set it off.
