Reminds me of Kato from the Pink Panther movies. A different self-defense scenario each time you come home.

Thing about a dog tho...I can hear all sorts of 'bumps' and noises in the house and not worry....cuz if it's not a dog...they will bark and let me know.

    Wow.

You have a self-defense training cat!

    That's awesome.

Here's a 'funny' one that happened last night. My daughters and one of thier friend sleeping over were playing that 'dancing' game....the one with the 'dance-pad'(put your feet on the arrows kinda thing). Anywho, around oh-dark-thirty, well after everyone was in bed, one of my dogs decided that pad was perfect for streaching out on. However, my daughters failed to turn off the TV AND game box. Pooch gets on the pad.....TV starts 'beeping' and such......and pooch does NOT like it.

I awoke to his 'mean' bark (most dog owners KNOW that bark from thier dogs). I grab my sidearm, surefire, and cellphone and comence to clearing my house until I see what my 'pooch' is mad at. He was gonna rip that pad apart!

Pets are joys. I reassured him with a 'good boy', and put that thing away. It's funny now but..........

When I CC, I carry with one in ethe chamber. If it is just a stashed gun (I have no children in the home), for example hidden but next to the bed, I've desided when not on the hip (etc) it is some grey area between not in use and in use, and I would rather not have a round chambered. I was not sure how I felt about this (I see both sides), so asking my wife, she stated she perfered unchambered (the same condition as her go to home SD firtearm).

Given my uncertainty on the issue, and her feelings, I went with her feelings.

My home has a way of making noise just on its own. From racoons to sheets of ice hitting the roof, when awaken by a noise (any many other noises relate to changes in temperature), I can never be sure.

I'm just grateful in my sleep I don't just blow them off.

That being said, the event I discribed was different. Still, all doors in place, no windows out of place, etc. One of those situation where by the time I came down stairs I did not think anyone was in the closet, but I still had to know.

    Agree.

No offense to other animal lovers on the forum, but I'm a one pet per household kind of guy. When the cat dies, I'll most likely get a dog. I just don't like having more than one pet.

Don't get me wrong...the cat is a good mouser (nothing I can do keeps the mice out, never over run, but about once a year, as the weather changes I get a mouse two. Partially because of an attached garage. ATM I have a vole in the garage I'm trying to catch.

You did very well...a good exercise for you in SA. The only thing is racking the slide...unless otherwise you have a dog which will give you time, I will advice on chambering up. If your gun have a safety, it is more easier to click the safety off too than racking to chamber.

Quality is more important than quantity IMO...if your time and affections can only be lavished on one animal, it is a lucky animal.
