+1 for the argument that at some point, it will be time to leave an irresponsible loved one well enough alone to deal with what consequences may come of her choices alone. I am making this decision right now as regards a "friend". It's a tough choice, but I can either choose to let her continue to bring threats into *my life* or to insulate myself by eliminating the source of those threats (aka her) from my life.
