I've used the same revolver for concealed carry 90% of the time for the past 35 years. It has also been shot a bunch in that length of time. It has never failed.
I did have a factory installed front sight fall off of a Colt 1911 once. It is a pistol I used to carry on occasion. My son and I had been shooting it one afternoon. When we returned home the front sight was missing. I was really put out with Colt for such workmanship. After all it was only 90 years old, had seen two World Wars, and thousands of rounds in the 30 years I've owned it.

I've had two that I didn't trust.
The first was a Springfield Armory "micro-compact" in .45 ACP. The guide rod broke loose from the guide rod head with less than 20 rounds through it. SA sent a new guide rod, and it broke again before I got through that first 50/rd box of target loads. I no longer own that firearm.
I also had a CZ75b in .40 S&W that never fed a full mag of ammo without at least a couple of jams. It was a new gun, and I think it was an extractor problem, but I don't own that one any more either.
I wouldn't trust my life to them, so I didn't carry them.
I had a Taurus revolver in .357 mag that shot loose in something like 500 rounds of ammo, but it never fauled to fire. I no longer own that one, either. Sold it to a fella who was willing to return it for repair and chance the results that he'd get back.
I've been carrying a S&W revolver for the last 8 years or so, and it's been 100% reliable.

Out of the 5 times I've had quals for work and 5,000 rounds through my glock 23. Well lets see o ya NOT one single problem.

In my 35+ years of owning various handguns, I've been rather lucky. I've had two incidents with auto-loaders and zero with revolvers. Perhaps I simply don't shoot enough, because this thread seems to suggest that failures are actually more common than I realized.
