Why do I carry a Gun?

    Because I might need it.

Why do you carry a spare tire in your car? Do you plan on having a flat tire today?
It’s so much easier now days, to "Love and honor" my wife, when she is armed, and shoots a better group than I do. (Till death do us part, eh?)

“The way you get shot by a concealed weapons permit holder is, you point a gun at him,” the Sheriff said.

You may not like guns. You may choose to not own one. That is your right.
You might not believe in God. That is your choice
    However, if someone breaks into your home at 3 am., the first two things you are going to do are;
    1) Call somebody with a gun,
    2) Pray to God they get there in time.

Heard from one of the gang at our local shop, he was visiting a leftwing-nut relative who asked, "are you carrying a gun"?
He replied"No", which got a puzzled look from his father, who knew he had a .380 in a pocket.
Father asked him later, "Why did you say you weren't carrying a gun"?

He said, "I'm not carrying A GUN, I'm carrying two guns."

I usually default to "Because I take personal responsibility for my safety and for that of my family, why don’t you?”

If I am in a mood though I will go with “Because I am polite and professional to all, but I have a plan to kill everyone I meet... just in case”

That one will get you some funny looks

Questionable comments like your last one are what put us that carry under the lime light. I found it best just to ignore the stupid anti . I am not trying to flame you by any means, JMHO.
When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid.

I know, I know... That one is more for people that I know on some level and we will have a conversation on the subject.

Honestly I rarely have to tell someone why I carry becuase I don't tell people I carry. The only time I have had to recently is at the doctors office and only one time out of six did someone ask why. And I used the first response.
