It's not a matter of if, but when there is a zombie uprising.

I don't know, I kind of like it,,,,Maybe those who question why we do, need to reassess why they don't.

    Reasons for carry

I would stay away from snide remarks like: "so if I have to kill someone" or such.
We had an employee who was done dirty by his immediate supervisor. He said to another employee something to the effect: "Someone ought to blow up tis place" He was overheard by a female employee who went to the security coordinator and the prez of the company and reported a "threat to blow up the company by the employee". He was immeadiately "fired" and removed from the building. The next week had an armed police officer in the lobby.
Moreover, the police also visited the now ex-employee, brought him in and questioned his for a while.
Also, do not say something like "...shooting badguys...." Inferrs you are a LEO.
Again, use a short sentence like:
"I am licensed to carry to protect myself and family"
Or "My job requires going into bad areas" or something simular.

The one time in my life I printed was in a 24 hour restaurant and was noticed by a LEO having some coffee there. It was 4 AM and I just finished a night call-out service call. He asked if I was carrying, and if I had a permit. I said yes to both. Heasked for the gun first and then the permit. After he was saisfied I was legal, he asked why do you carry?
I said "I just came back from repairing one of your radios at XXX street police station. You would not go into that neighborhood unarmed, either". He just laughed and said "you got that right". he returned the gun and permit with " nice gun"
Note: bought an IWB holster the next day.

Again, sarcastic remarks told to (or heard by) the wrong person could get your a$$ in trouble.

I answer most folks this way..

I like to have something handy for close encounters.

Or my personal favorite... I never know when I might need to defend you or defend myself from you.

    Lightbulb Don't be insulting

I'm sure it's tempting sometimes to reply with something snarky and condescending. But the best thing to do for promoting gun rights, as some have mentioned, is something that makes them think. I think framing it as a safety device rather than a weapon is probably the best way to win converts. You definitely don't want to sound eager to use it, that's exactly the thing that makes people nervous. Emphasize that you hope you never use it, but that you want to be prepared because criminals don't make appointments.

This is my favorite answer right here in a nutshell. No other reason then this.

I've been getting this a lot from my family. My wife and father passed along that I was getting my CPL...

"why do you want to carry a gun?"

"In my entire life, I have never regretted having a plan B"

Usually answers all questions pretty quickly
