Louisiana considering new laws
Lawmakers to consider looser gun laws
Associated Press - March 25, 2010 1:04 PM ET
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Already considered a gun-friendly state, Louisiana may further loosen restrictions on firearms.
Lawmakers are proposing to allow guns at state parks, to expand agreements that make permits to carry handguns in one state valid in another and to let armed security guns with concealed weapons into church services.
They've also sponsored bills to exempt weapons made and owned in-state from federal restrictions and to make concealed handgun permits last longer.
Lawmakers will consider the ideas in the legislative session that begins Monday. The bills are similar to laws enacted in several other states in recent years, mostly in the South and West. The trend is attributed in large part to a push by the National Rifle Association, which has boosted efforts to lessen gun restrictions at state levels.

Sounds like good legislation. Make sure to call/e-mail your rep. and voice your support of these bills.

Sounds good to me too! I’m from Alexandria, La although I was raised in San Diego, California. Still, I’ll mark this one up as one for the home team.

Sounds good, but someone ought to pass the word on to the Shreveport Mayor & police dept. that LA is gun-friendly. Link below to an earlier DC posting indicates otherwise. In this time of "hope & change", I hope the subjects of Shreveport change their Mayor the next opportunity they get.
Asked by a CNN reporter "What do you feel when you shoot a terrorist"?, the Marine sniper simply shrugged & replied "recoil".

Maybe they'll join us 5 who've already exempted instate made firearms and ammunition.
By the way, I love Port Fourchon in the spring and summer. Louisiana rocks!

Hope the bill passes and is signed into law.
Maybe even more states will move in this direction.
