Alabama state parks carry -Possible Policy Change-

I've always thought that carry in Alabama state parks was not allowed unless you had the written permission of the head of the particular park, which is like getting the pot of gold from the leprechaun.
However, while researching something else tonight I noticed this

    Prohibited Devices (220-5-.08)
    (1) It shall be unlawful for any person other than a duly authorized law enforcement
officer to possess or carry into any State Park any form of firearm without written
    permission of the manager or custodian in charge of the State Park visited;
provided, however, nothing in this regulation prohibits the possession of
handguns by lawfully licensed persons for personal protection, provided the
handguns are not used for any unlawful purpose
    . No person shall possess,
discharge or set off on or within a State park any firecrackers, torpedoes, rockets,
    cap pistols, or other fireworks.
Notice the underlined text. I don't remember this from the past, although I might have overlooked it.
Has there been a policy change?
The underlined text is pretty clear in it's intent, which would mean licensed carry is legal.

    Thoughts?

Edit to add: I just checked HandgunlawsUS and they are listing State Park carry in Alabama as legal.
Could this be in response to the new National Park carry rules?
Not that I care why they did it....

The way I read AL state law is this: there is no place in AL that a licensed individual can't CCW. Except of course Federal blds. But of course I'm not going to be the one to set the precedent!!! LOL!!

According to HandgunLawsUS they changed their information on Alabama State Parks and WMAs within the past week.
That's very interesting. I just sent an email to the local Park office.

I'm very interested too. I knew it was state park policy not to allow firearms, but couldn't find any actual law prohibiting it (maybe being charged with trespassing) .

Yes the Regulations were changed less than 3 weeks ago. Here is a link to the Administrative Rules http://www.alapark.com/parks/pdfs/Ru...egulations.pdf

Go to 220-5-.08 to see the new rules.

So as long as we have a license, it's okay.

For those of us who are legally licensed it's great news. Of course for the criminals and thugs, they could care less for minor issues such as legalities...they'll carry when and where they like.
