    Sheriff Office Visit April 1 2010 6:00pm

    Hello, All
I've been waiting for this day since last year sometime when I first bought my c9 Hipoint. Every so often the sheriff office here in Calhoun County Alabama offers a free how to/defense gun class plus are given a card of the reciprocity states. The class was dictated by two deputy sheriff officers who were supposed to be experts. They gave some interesting and informative pointers and senerios. Class lasted 2 hours give are take for some stupid questions some young guys were asking. Which were really more of common since questions. After the lectures we signed our names and address on paper for our certificates to be mailed to us after the shooting part which happens Saturday April 3rd at 10:00am at the Jacksonville Police outdoor range. And as you all can see I cant sleep. Its now 1:36am. I'm a bit nervous. Well goodnight/goodmorning to yall and with me luck. Will keep posted as to what happens.

When it comes to SD and firearms, I don't think that there are any stupid questions.

    Good luck!!

    That's sure nice of them.

The LE agencies around here don't do anything like that. I know a few LEOs that teach NRA courses and Texas CHL classes in their spare time, but not "free" nor LE agency-sponsored.

I like the idea of sheriff's office conducting safety classes for the folks in their county.

The LEOs in our area are pro gun and pro CC.

If the nation looses ROL due to something beyond local level event the sheriffs department will need help to secure the county from BGs and gangs etc.

I think that in such an event it would be better to work with the LE than to just hunker down and wait for the BGs or gangs or whatever to show up at your door.

The fire arm defense class will let the sheriff know where he can find help for security of the county.

This is a nice deal. I was lucky, grew up in the country, learned to shoot and hunt at a young age, but lots of city fold didn't have that benefit.
I learned to drive farm tractors/trucks/motos on the farm, but city kids often learned to drive in drivers ed in high school, wouldn't it be nice if we have Shooters Ed in high school too?

Well I woke on time like 9:30am. And made the mad dash maybe like 20.min tops to where I was to be. To make a long story short did very well stated the deputy sheriff. He even ask if I was upset with anyone cuz the bowling pin target was dead on or close to where to shoot. Even was asked if he could shoot my c9 hipoint before saying bad things above it.
All in all I did GOOD. Glad I didn't over sleep.

wow that's the only county i know of in alabama that actually does that. Most counties you just go in pay your fee and get your permit

For every quote- unquote "stupid" question NOT asked, there's someone wandering around not sure of what to do. I agree, when it comes to self defense and being responsible, there are no stupid questions.

I hope you have a good time on your shooting portion of the class.

    Stay safe buddy!
