On the flashlight topic, I picked up a SureFire 'Defender' for around $100 only to find out upon receipt that it was the 80 lumens variety & not the 200 lumens (I should have read the details before hitting "Please please send it to me!!"). That said, I too use my light on average once a day at work, usually for close-up computer maintenance / repair (I work in IT).
+1 for the Cargo Pants option. Makes life much simpler as per gear like knives, lights, keys, etc.
Now I need to investigate a lightweight tac vest for the summer months to replace my 5.11 tac vest (which I love dearly but which wears like iron and I can already tell is going to be damned hot in June, July, August, etc).

first...and this is OMO.....no vest unless I'm hunting or fishing, no fanny pack/man purse
I wear cargo pants off-duty, 5.11 and some others
G30 IWB at 3:00 since thats where my weapon is on duty, reaching for the same place
left cargo pocket 2 glock 21 mags, keys in left front pocket, cell phone clipped on belt left side
right cargo pocket-wallet and cuffs (we have encounters off duty and I want cuffs available if I have to take action)
right front pocket--the S&W 642 can go here and does on occasion as my BUG
Surefire G2 in the small left pocket
I'm 6'4" 210 and carry all this comfortably as if its not even there, doesn't bother me since I'm used to carrying 20lbs of gear on duty everyday LOL
spar10...good question on the flashlight.....I carry one since I'll never know about the lighting in a building if the SHTF
also...the G2 makes a great impact weapon in the hand
