Texas CHL renew
A question for those of you who have renewed your Texas CHL before. I sent my fee in after calling the DPS with a few questions. My CHL is good into late August. I have not received my 'packet' they described as of yet. I was told when I receive this, I am to take the half day class and send in the required paperwork to renew my license. My concern is this,I read on the DPS site that I will not receive the packet until 90 days prior to the expiration of my current CHL. It took 91 days after the paper work was sent the first time,to receive the CHL. Is a renewal a faster process? I could call them back, but I value forum members experience more.

you can take the class and get that out of the way. the range your class is at SHOULD have the other paperwork ie fingerprint card passport photo holder and notary papers. then when you paper comes in you verify the info and mail it back.. as for the lenght of time..it is the state dont ya know..but they have gotten alot better on the turn around time....good luck.

My December/Jan renew was 32 days from mailing paperwork to receiving CHL.
My SIL took his class on Dec 15 and had new license on Jan 19. The extra employees authorized by last legislature has helped DPS process applications and there are certainly more applications.

Check with some on TexasCHLforum.com • Index page and you can see what some of the others experienced. Mine took over 90 days. Luckily I had gotten my non-resident PA for $25 in 7 days so I was not without carry permit. :hand10:
