    Question Atlanta/Georgia Concealed Help

    Hey Y'all!

I'm a TN resident and I'll be going to a wedding in the Atlanta area this weekend. Any particulars I should be aware of concerning Georgia or Metro Atlanta carry laws?

I'll be doing my own research but I figured I'd cover all my bases in case I miss something.

    Thanks, Georgians!

Basically the big things to remember are:
    Don't carry inside a church
Don't carry inside a school of any kind
Don't carry to a sporting event
    Don't carry to a concert
Don't carry to a bar (restaurant is fine, just don't drink)
    Don't carry in government buildings
Don't carry to a political rally of any kind
No signage laws so signs mean nothing. Just leave if asked to leave
Don't carry on MARTA (public transport) unless you are prepared for a legal battle. It's legal but they are jumpy as hell about it.

Some of the lakes and parks in Georgia are run by the Army Corps of Engineers. These areas are on the federal list of prohibited places for armed citizens. Lake Lanier and Red Top Mountain State Park are two such examples. Be careful to avoid any US Army CoE managed areas in Georgia while armed.

What about public roads crossing ACoE property? Is there a list of the Georgia ACoE property anywhere? I did a Google search and all I found were stories about the water battle at Lake Lanier.

I was under the impression from one of my Georgia friends that carry in a church and on MARTA were now allowed.

    Confirmation anyone?

Marta is allowed, there is a bill pending that will allow church carry at the permission of the church.

It is highly recommended that you ride Marta in deep conceal mode. It may be legal, but they like to harass.

Even if the Wedding is not in a church, you still don't want to carry. Georgia has a very vague law called "Public Gathering" that basically includes any "event" that the public will gather for. A wedding is such an event. Going to the mall is not unless there's an event going on inside (beauty pageant, etc.)

The Senate just passed SB308 by an overwhelming majority that would do away with this ridiculous Public Gathering law, now it's up to the House to hear it and pass it. SB308 would also leave it up to churches and bars to individually decide if they allow carry and well as allow carry in unsecured parts of an airport.

Mugged and Robbed throughout Atlanta IMO.

To everyone else, it is an abbreviation for Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.

Doesn't matter in Georgia, that's why we need to encourage our Congressmen/women to pass laws that remove Public Gathering. It can be interpreted any way a LEO or Judge wants. Georgia Carry : An information clearinghouse for Georgia Firearms License issues and news Frequently Asked Questions
