    AMC theatre prohibits legal guns?

Just wondering if this is a nationwide thing or just local. We went to see a movie tonight at our local AMC theatre only to notice the "no weapons" sign at the entrance. We left and went to a Regal Cinema to watch the movie since they've never prohibited.

Wrote them a nice letter so they'd know they've lost my money as long as that sign is up.

Not expecting it to make any difference.

There is only one theatre in the town I live in (Regal), but it wouldn't matter anyway. In NC it is illegal to carry anywhere that they charge an admission fee. I wrote Gov. Bev Purdue a long letter, too. My expectations mirror yours. (sigh)

    Nationwide?
    No!

FL wins again...signs mean nothing, and theaters are not on any list...neither are banks, churches, malls, and restaurants that serve alcohol (exclude regular bars though)....all this and lots of sunny days, too!

those signs in GA do not have any legal weight. if u CC they will not know, and if you OC all they can do is make you leave. it has no legal repercussions.
i am not a lawyer, this is only what i have learned from all the research i have conducted.
but with GAs public gathering law that is very, very vaque and up for interpretation. look into GeorgiaPacking.org for some further guidance

I understand we could have continued, but I've always respected the beliefs and rights of others. If they don't want me there, my money is still good in other theaters. I don't want to worry about being asked to leave. I'd rather be welcome.

Interesting that this is not nationwide. Perhaps this is not corporate policy and maybe if a few more Georgians let corporate know, there cold be some pressure to remove the signs?

Yeah AzB, I know that AMC at Arrowhead Mall is posted. No worries, there is a Harkins right down the block. Frankly I don't like AMC's seats anyway, so I would rather frequent Harkins. Add the no firearms sign, and I don't spend my money there.

The ones here are all in the malls and thus have signs, but they do not carry the weight of the law.

Besides, who wants to pay $13.50 to see some crappy movie?

You know... I don't even look for signs on restaurants and movie theaters... In my state, the most they can do is ask you to leave if they see your gun... which never happens because I conceal well.

Now if it were a crime, it would be a different story and I would go elsewhere.

I was at a AMC this weekend to see a movie with the family. Did not see a sign in St.Louis. Might just be local.

I notice at my local AMC not a no gun sign, but a sign that simply says "This facility has a seating capacity greater than 2500." (In MI we cannot carry into entertainment facilities that have seating for more than 2500) I thought, hmmm... More tactful than taking a political stance- they make the message clear, but completely blame it on legislation rather than their own policy.
