2) If you don't like your local politics you have a choice - choose to vote and change the laws; choose to change the place of your residence; or choose to put up with whatever bugs you.
Side note: Did anyone else notice that the green areas appear to "outnumber" the rest of the State yet can't seem to get any major legislation passed? Can we say "disenfranchised?"
Yes it is possible, I know this first hand as I am current CCW holder. The fact of the matter is that most people won't even bother applying because of insufficient good cause. That's what bothers me. I could leave well enough alone and be happy that I have one. But no, I have chosen to get involved to help everyone else. Check out our website (link in my sig line) and/or our Facebook page to see first hand what we are doing.

Again, wait for the SCOTUS decision on MacDonald v. Chicago. If/when the 2A is incorporated to the states, CA will actually have a RKBA right. The current lawsuit challenging the CA CCW policy is already on hold, awaiting that SCOTUS decision. If it goes the way we expect it to, CA could effectively become "shall issue" by way of the courts this year.

just curious, if you're granted a permit in one county is it valid state wide or just in that county? what if you move out of that county?

Permits are valid statewide. If you move to another county you must notify your issuing agency, your permit will no longer valid in 30 days I believe. You must then reapply in your new county. That can be somewhat of a pain as processing time (assuming you are moving to a county that issues) varies. Here in Orange County, average time from initial interview to having permit in hand is about two months while other counties may take up to a year.

You can't disenfranchise empty land. The places with the power are the places with most of the people. There's a reason Alaska doesn't have the most congressional representation.
