Using the bathroom when cc'ing
I did try to search this subject as it surely has been covered here, but could not find anything. Sorry.
As a new cc'er, trying different holsters and placements, I am interested in how people manage this. Bluntly, I mean, sitting down on a toilet, with waist carried gun out of it's normal place.
Take it out of the holster? Put it where? If not, what type of holster are you using to keep it in there?
Remove holster from belt if clipped? Where do you put it? I am noticing that toilet tank covers are now rounded and sloped.
How about a good inside the belt holster, with clips. Take the gun out?
I remember I asked about this once before, what seems like a long time ago and I cannot find the thread. Now that I have carried for a while, I have a whole new set of questions. I remember someone saying to fold over underthings to protect the gun from falling. Not really an option for fashionable girls.
???????????
Women especially, how is this done?
Has anyone ever left a gun in the bathroom?
Thanks for your input and again, sorry for the rehash. I just see so much room for error here.

Real world Questions!
The worse part is forgetting you have a firearm and it flipping onto the floor, very dangerous. I keep it attached to pant and fold it over so its resting on my boxers.

There was recently a thread on DC regarding an active duty LEO who left his service weapon in a bathroom.
If you take it off there is always the possibility that you might forget it.
How to explain this? When sitting I remove my holster w/weapon and place inside my pants. Then when I'm ready to leave, I can't forget it because if I don't put it back on the belt it will be very uncomfortable and remind me of my forgetfulness.

If you're going to be in there a while, it's a great time to clean your gun. Just make sure you take your cleaner, patches, cleaning rod, etc into the bathroom with you.
What ever you do, don't use toilet paper as a cleaning patch! DAMHIK!

My XD40sc stays snugly inside the Crossbreed Supertuck holster. I wear it at 3:00-3:30, and have never had a problem.
On the other hand, maybe you could hold onto it just in case someone kicks the door in.. You'd have the drop on them. ;)

When belt carrying I do the ol re-fasten the belt after lowering and keep my legs spread apart so as to not let the holster touch the floor. (In the mens restroom you really don't want your cloths touching the floor anyway.)
I strongly discourage removing your gun from its holster.

My gun goes into my pocket prior to beginning the job...then back into the holster after all the administrative paperwork is done.
Yep, that's what I do...

If I am wearing my Smartcarry I just pull it up around my chest if I have to have a bowel movement. If I'm wearing my Crossbreed IWB I remove it from the holster and rest it on top of my underwear.
Now how I go pee wearing the Smartcarry is just something you get used to. I won't go into details how I do it but it is easy to do with practice, at least my method is.

Into the pocket, into the pants, redo the belt......all things I had not thought of.
Thanks I appreciate the input. Overall I am hearing "keep it on the body somehow".
p.s. I had not contemplated how smart-carry men handle this operation. Thanks for that visual.

Whowebe - why do you remove your weapon from your Crossbreed holster? I do not see the need for this... Perhaps i ride my pants higher than you do when sitting.. my pants hang on my knees, so my holster and gun are near my calf.

This is a good question. I normally don't have a problem with this. However, a month or so ago (I think it was at Walmart or Sam's Club), I wasn't careful enough and by belt flopped over dumping my G23 onto the bathroom floor. You can't imagine the noise that makes.
Needless to say, I cranked down the retension on my MTAC as soon as I got home. Good reason to check the retension often.

This will depend on the size and weight of the gun you are carrying. If you carry a heavy full size .45 as I do, it will be top heavy and will flip itself out of the holster as you lower your pants.
Ask me how I know
I have learned to remove the gun from the holster and place it, well, into the pocket formed by my pants which are now below my knees.
If I am not removing my pants a simple unzip will usually do the trick.
Smaller lighter guns will stay put in a holster.
