Yes, there are plenty of limits on OC and CC here in NC. No carrying if admission is charged. No carrying at public gatherings. No OC or CC if a sign is posted at the door of the facility. That's 3 distinct ways carrying would be prevented at the convention.
Obviously none of this mattered to the NRA when they chose the venue. HA! That's actually rather funny...

I believe that I read somewhere that the reason was the same one given by gun stores- insurance restrictions.

Every large city competes for convention business. An event this size brings in millions for Shops, hotels and restaurants. I am sure Charlotte made NRA a deal that was too good to pass up.
If you don't believe that was the reason Charlotte was selected send s message to Wayne and ask him.

The more I look into the NRA, the less I like what I see. I will continue to support it with my membership, but I've become disenchanted with directing all of my 2A support to just one organization.

Seems fairly silly that the NRA would choose a convention site that disallowed firearms. A bit of pandering there, it would seem.

"NC prohibits carrying (OC or CC) in a place that charges admission"
Smart law. My shooting range charges an admission, and people are always shooting at stuff there. I was at a turkey shoot sanctioned by the local police department the other day, paid my admission and fired away. See it's not guns that kill, it admission fees.
Buying a ticket and passing through a turnsile makes guns fire. Who knew?
I know what you're thinking: "Did he fire six shots or only five?" "Is that a Smith & Wesson 686+ 7 shot or 627 8 shot?" "Does he have a concealed Sig P226 SCT and two spare mags?" You've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

Again, THERE IS NO ADMISSION CHARGE!! NRA members show their card and get in at no charge. The same for active duty military personnel and LEO's.
CCW permit holder for Idaho, Utah, Pennsylvania, Maine and New Hampshire. I can carry in your country but not my own.

I can sorta understand the logic. If they allowed CCW and/or OC, then most people attending would probably waltz in with a loaded gun, and the potential for an accidental discharge would 'shoot' through the roof!

No higher than the potential at the local farmer's market or any other gathering. That is, so long as the stray idiot keeps his/her concealed firearm concealed, amongst so many admirers. That would raise the odds a bit.

Kinda feel the same. Been a life member for years, wife is a life member, signed my 85 year old mother up a couple of years ago----but I also get disenchanted. I will continue to support the NRA, but more money goes to GOA, SAF, TSRA, and CCRTKBA.

The NRA never sent me my membership card.

If you're not in the military, or an LEO, you will have to join. Memberships are sold there.
