Mythbusters did a segment on this. Cooking rounds off in an oven. Temps way to high for a car.

...and unless this site is unusually oppressive, the same question will likely be asked again. I'm no internet guru, but I'm not aware of ANY sites that have a policy that tolerates a given question to be asked only one time.

I have had the same conclusion. Searches reveal a plethora of information but sometimes it doesn't necessarily answer the question the person had.

Old threads automatically lock here and sometimes a question asked years ago may not have the answer you are looking for today. The mods already said it is ok to open a new thread if that is the case. It also helps to include links of threads you already searched for maybe to prevent redundant answers... although most people won't ever look at the referenced threads.

As for the OP.... yeah it should be just fine leaving your gun locked up in your car. Usually a car's interior temp won't get high enough to melt plastic (especially the space age polymers in most gun frames now). Although I wouldn't just forget about it. Cleaning it and maintaining it is key to it being ready if you ever needed it.
There is something about firing 4,200 thirty millimeter rounds/min that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I think that a misunderstanding happened here. I did not mean that it was wrong to ask again about it. Actually, I meant the totally opposite; I just wanted to point out that also other people wonder about the same thing. I understand your concern, but not all the people try to be condescending with their comments; sometimes people mean well too.

No problems, it was just a misunderstanding. BTW, I love your 1911s; I am a huge 1911 fan.
