    yep, I agree
    and Texas does have a timeline requirement to notify you after 60 days if more time is needed and why.....however there are no teeth in the law to do anything if this timeframe is not complied with
    brilliant on our legislature's part
    it needs to be changed to what other states have in that the CHL gets issued at the end of the time then if something is uncovered the CHL gets yanked

    "so they can process the 484,000 census bureua workers fringerprint background checks so they can go to work and check the censuses when they come in."

    If it gives that many people temporary work, I'm sure we can all wait a week for the FBI to catch up.

    Put their shoes on for a while. I know a couple of folks who do this, and it's about their only chance to make a few bucks more than their measly SS checks bring them.

    Give them a break and quit griping about the little things in life.

    Over here in SC you will get your ID in 90 days. If any thing is found wrong after that ,ie, failing your state or FBI background check, they will send out a officer to reposses your ID.

    DropTop, I think that is a standard form letter that they send with every permit. I'm guessing that the FBI check had come back by the issue date. Mine came with the same letter....same with my wife's permit that showed up yesterday.

    In KS the SO (or their agent) prints you and send them to the AG who sends the prints to the Fed (FBI) for the background check. I know because a friend had not gotten his letter from the AG when his wife and I had; the AG office told him "the FBI check was taking longer on his prints. The only thing he could think was he is a medical pro and has a DEA #; and there was a hitch in the system because of that (I wonder if his DEA Check had been done not long before and his file was flag due to access with in X time frame).

    Georgia is the same: total cost for CCW permit is $65 where I live;

    $15 for filing your paperwork with Probate Court
    $50 for background check and electronic fingerprinting
