Unhappy Life's too short for an ugly gun

I just bought a Taurus PT-911 to replace my snubby for CCW.

I could have purchased a rock-solid, dependable Glock 17 or a 19, but damn, I'm just so sick of your average black, ugly "wonder nine" pistols out there.

Anyone else think that a CCW weapon should be a bit more than a utilitarian-looking "projectile dispensing" tool?

And I don't mean the complete replacement of form-over-function -- 'cause I want both -- but shouldn't more manufacturers put more "pizzaz" into their autos, rather than having every single damn semi pretty much looking like a generic brick?

    -Bill

Well, I sure don't like the looks, (or anything else) on Glocks, but that is sure not for me either. The gold is just way too flashy for me. To each his own.

I guess I have a different outlook on the situation. Hopefully, if I ever have to show it to anyone, they won't be physically able to provide their personal feedback!

Life may be even shorter if pretty gun don't work. I have been where you are now, we all make complete circles. Sooner or later that anodized finish will wear and flake, and you will get rid of that sissy gun and get you a glock. But, I am glad you like it, thats what counts.

I don't have a Glock, but I do have a SA XD40 SC, pretty much looks like a Glock. Either weapon is reliable and will work when needed. I carry my XD for survival, not to win a beauty contest. In fact, the only times I see it is at the range, or cleaning it afterwards, that's about three times a month normally.

I do like to look at the gun porn when it gets posted, and do like the pretty guns, but I don't have the money for them, so I'll stick to my brick.

While function is absolutely the most important factor, there are many good looking guns that are hammer reliable. My next handgun will be a CZ P-01. I think it a beautiful pistol. I first shot one that another guy had when I took my CCW class and I fell in love. Felt great and is well proportioned IMO.

I carry a beautiful 1911, but if all the finish wore off it and it looked like hell, I would still tote it as long as it functioned.

Thats OK, when that nickel plated sissy Taurus lets you down you'll come back to Glock ----- if your not dead! :)

I'm all for nice looking pistols. I'm a sucker for nickle plated S&W revolvers. However, some of the fuggly guns sure shoot nice!

I prefer my long range remote control drills to be plain looking.

But that looks ok, I mean for something not meant to be seen.
