Do you carry EXTRA ammo while CCW'ing?

If my CCW carry weight of a 28oz gun and heavy 16 rounds of 9mm didn't already weigh so darn much, I probably would carry one extra mag. But as it is, I feel the extra weight, bulk, and lack of need makes it too much of a pain for me. How about everyone else?

If I'm carrying my Glock 19 or Glock 22, I carry an extra magazine.

If I'm carrying my M1911, I carry two extra magazines.

If I'm carrying a revolver, I carry one or two speedloaders.

I carry an extra mag for my G19 not because I think I will need 30 rounds of ammo, but in case I have a mechanical failure or bad mag.

I keep spare ammo in my vehicle. If I think more ammo might be needed I carry a second gun.

I answered no, but it really depends on what I consider the risk level. When I go to Orlando, yes, one spare mag. When I go to South Florida and/or Atlanta, I take a spare mag and my backup .38 Spl. For S. Florida and/or Atlanta, once at my destination, I usually downgrade to a spare mag. I'm going to be getting a deep concealment holster for my .38 so that I may carry it rather than a spare mag.

I answered No because I'm not usually in areas where I feel I require additional assurance of a mag.

I trust my hi-cap semi auto, and I know how to get it back in running condition if a malfunction occurs. That being said, I live in a relatively rural area, and generally do not carry a spare mag. Sometimes if I'm going into a bigger town, to do shopping, and it's later in the evening, I will carry a spare mag. However, if I travel into the city, I always carry a spare magazine with me.

Whenever I carry my snub nose revolver, sw 642, 5 shot, I do carry a speed loader with another 5 rounds in my weak side pocket(i keep that pocket empty, all except for the speed loader).

I always carry a spare magazine with me. Most auto loader malfunctions are caused by magazine problems, rather than fumbling around trying to fix it, I'd rather let it drop and switch to the spare magazine.

One spare mag in a pocket or holster.

I've never really believed in changing because I might be going to a "bad area" or a "bad part of town". I carry the same way pretty much all the time. Spare magazine or speedloader/strip/moonclip for whatever might be my primary. BUG without any spares.

The best way to carry more ammo is in another gun!

I don't currently carry extra ammo while CCW. Then again, I am new to carrying full time (just got permit on 4/20) - reading the prior respo
nses maybe I should rethink this!

    I don't post here anymore...Sorry
    Extra ammo?
Hell! I don't even load mine.

I'll just draw it and tell the guy to scram. He'll run when he sees I've got a gun.

Besides, carrying an unloaded gun is safer than, you know...having a loaded gun. I mean, if the gun is loaded, even if carried without one in the chamber, it may go off.

Since my primary gun is a single-stack semi, the weakest link in any semi is the magazine, and I've had magazines fail before, I always carry at least one spare mag, and usually two. It's not because I expect to be in any extended firefights, but because Mr. Murphy and I have become well acquainted over the years. For my backup revolver (in case Murphy brings friends along) I carry one speed strip. On the rare occasions when I carry a revolver as a primary, my backup is usually only a mousegun, so I'll carry a couple of speedloaders and a speed strip or two. If I'm carrying a double-stack semi as primary, I usually only carry one spare mag. Carried properly, in the right gear, carrying of the spares is no problem.
