Got My Permit in the Mail Today - 7 Weeks
So while I'm at work today, my wife calls. I answer and she's excitedly yelling
into the phone. After I calm her down, she tells me that she doesn't normally check the mail (she let's me do it), but she checked it today for some reason. She opened up a letter addressed to her, and lo and behold were a nice set of his and hers Arkansas Concealed Handgun Carry Permits! The state cashed our checks March 15th, and we were told to wait up to 120 days. But here we are 7 weeks later. Now I have to (get to) go buy a holster and a vechicle safe. Let's see if anybody tries to walk up on me at an ATM at night again...but that's another thread.

Congratulations! Ain't that the greatest feeling? 7 weeks, good for you you.
I recall staring the envelope from the sheriff and feeling the plastic card inside - truly enjoyed the Moment.

HI,
Does anyone know about the state police background check in Arkansas?, I mean do they really look at your medical records or is this just something they add in case you shoot someone then they can go back and get your records from your doctors?

I'm not sure on that, but I know one question they ask is something about "Have you ever been committed to a mental health facility, voluntarily or not?" I know someone who lives in Arkansas and had voluntarily been to a mental health facility for a few days years ago (and stated this on the application), but had no issues getting a permit.
Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome!

That's awesome! Congratulations to both of you! My wife's permit took six weeks to get. That was just this past September.
