Massachussets went from 3 years at $75 to 4 years at $100. In Boston you need to take a firing test as part of the renewal process. Something like 7 shots at 7 yards and 10 shots at 15 yards. Target is about a foot in diameter--so if you don't qualify, you might be better off taking up some other sport.

My Iowa permit cost $10 for the first one-year term. Subsequent yearly renewals cost $5.

Virginia legislature recently passed lifetime CHPs

The Virginia legislature passed the bill (HB 1577) that removed the option for fingerprinting on CHP (concealed handgun permit) renewals and created the lifetime CHP. Last I heard was that there must be an appropriation, which is not expected to be a problem, before the lifetime CHPs become law on 7/1/2007 (a month before I'm up for renewal!)

The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that's good.

Mississippi 4 years plus $27 for finger prints. Renewal is $50 for 4 years. No classes required (actually not real crazy about that ).
