    Sorry to hear about the accident. You did well with the LEO.

    I have had people make the same statement simply because they find out I own a firearm, hunt, or went to the range a week ago. Propaganda works on all kinds.

    It's stories like yours that make me happy I left the cursed state forever.

    Yup, why would anyone need a gun in CA?

    This is tragic and the very reason i appplied for my permit. Not this specific incident, but owning a business in general. In fact, now that I think about it... the only time that i have felt threatened and actually placed my hand on my hip in preperation to draw was when a low life came in demanding to use the office phone and then asked for money after that.

    Who would have thought that insurance would have been such a dangerous profession. Maybe it is just the insurance business in Cali.

    Should have asked him if he had a fire extinguisher? When he said yes you should of said why does a cop need one?!? (after all only a firefighter would need one)

    Its the greatest state in the union. (if you can overlook a handful of the laws and their government.) If I could move back, I would in a heartbeat. Much better than the south.

    I like CA; I think that is a very nice state. That the laws are totally out of line is other story, but we cannot blame the state or the people for that … well perhaps some people, because they chose those weir laws.

    I would NOT have been able to pass it up.... I'm sure I would have responded with a comment like "well, they let you carry one don't they ? "..... and it would have gone from there.

    I can think of three reasons to move to California:

    1. That is where most of the good jobs are;

    2. The weather is FAR better than any other state;

    3. It has beautiful and varied landscape and scenery.

    I lived in CA for forty years, but their anti-gun attitudes and laws spoiled it all for me, and I willingly left CA behind and moved to jobless northern MS, which also has freezing cold winters and broiling summers (but it does have great scenery and great gun laws!!! So for me, it was worth it).

    Law enforcement officers on the coast (S.F.,L.A.) have usually never seen a CCW, and probably don't know they exist. Our sheriff deputies are very use to seeing CCWs, and think nothing of it. If the CHP officer in the same area is not from here, it is usually a rude awakening to find so many CCWs.

    out, "Why the does an insurance agent need a CCW?" Since I didn't feel like this would be the appropriate time to discuss the constitutionality of carrying a gun and the usurption of my rights by the government of California I merely said something cheesy like, "Uhhhh, for my protection sir." He looked at me like I was stuck on stupid and simply said, "just don’t shoot me, okay? Now, how did the accident happen...?"

    Or you could have Quoted Thomas Paine

    “The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand, arms, like laws, discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The balance of power is the scale of peace. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside. Horrid mischief would ensue were one half the world deprived of the use of them; the weak would become a prey to the strong.”

    – Thomas Paine
