This question is not from me but from a family member that is establishing a license private Detective and security company in Illinois. He's currently doing all the LLC, License, Certifications etc. Now the question is? Is he allowed to carry a conceal weapon at all times?

I hope ISPCapt weighs in on this....but my answer would be No....IL does not have a concealed carry permit program....a FOID is NOT a concealed carry permit.

SIG, I guess you misunderstood. I'm referring to a legal business that provides detective and security services, license, bonded etc. Not a CCW in Illinois which I already know the answer to that.

It will depend on what type of license he's getting but generally the answer is no. Most private dick licenses do not grant CCW. For a security company it's only while on duty and going directly to and coming directly from.
If he's gone any distance at all establishing his business then he'll know the answer to those questions as it will be part of the process when he's licensing thru the IL Dept of Financial and Professional Registration.

Well, he ask me the question and I wasn't sure how to answer it. Why is it that most people think that just because your a Trooper you are suppose to know "EVERYTHING?" Anyway, let him do his homework
