Transporting through NY
Im planning on going from NH to WV for my sons graduation . I have a NH ccw and a PA non res ccw, which WV accepts. Can I transport through NY with my gun in a locked case behind the rear seat of my pickup. Unloaded and with the ammo in the glove box. Thanx for any help .

I plan on only passing through NY for about an hour on my way and the gun will be locked unloaded in a small gun safe behind the rear seat of my pickup. I was just worried cuz on one site it said NY was the only state that doesnt allow transport unless your a licensed resident.

There is not a pretty, easy answer. Just my .02. Been there, done that, survived, but surely went the speed limit at all times. Just saying.......

Federal laws allow you to pass through a state as long as the weapon is locked up in a box and unloaded. State law can not over ride Federal laws....right?

IIRC, the ammo also has to be "locked up" separately.
I would NOT leave it in the glove box. I would put it in another locked container, behind the seat and not within your reach.
Out of sight, out of mind!! Call it extra insurance of a successful trip w/o having to explain anything to anyone with a badge.
