Another LEO encounter
Well after seeing a bunch of these come up recently I thought I would share mine. I was driving up to see some friends and took a back way instead of the highway due to construction. This led me through the small city of Mosby Missouri. As I come into town I slow down as the truck in front of me is turning into the gas station. The LEO was sitting in that station waiting to turn left onto the road that I was on. As soon as I passed he pulled out and followed me for a bit and then lit up his cherries. I had only had my CCW for two weeks or so and was fairly nervous since it was my first encounter.
I pulled over, rolled down the windows, car off, hands on the wheel at 10 and 2, light on with my DL, CCW and insurance in hand. He walks up and I tell him that I have my ccw.
Me: Officer I am supposed to inform you that I have my CCW and it in on my right hip in a holster.
Him:What are you carrying?
Me: S&W m&p 40c
Him:why aren't you carrying a glock.
Well he proceeds to tell me that my windows are tinted too dark and I tell him i know. We then talk about guns for a little while and he says that I should try out a glock and he is a big fan of people getting their ccw and protecting themselves. I happen to have a gun magazine (not with bullets, but with words and pics) and show him the new lazer sights that mount where your back sights usually go and he says he will look into those.
I was very impressed with him and how it was handled and even bs'd with the officer some. I ended up getting a ticket for $77.50 for the tint, but since I knew they were too dark when I did them I can't complain. Need to go to the eye doctor and get a sticker for light sensitivity still since I had my Lasik done.
Well thats my story, and thought I'd share.

The officer was very nice and the ticket was my fault for doing it WAY past the legal tint limit. I'm not one to complain about getting a ticket if I am breaking the law.

Sounds like a good conversation and encounter. Minus the ticket, even though you deserved it

Or rather: if I had a Glock would I still be getting a ticket?
Thanks for sharing the story.

DON'T DRINK THE KOOL-AID!
It amazes me when people are amazed that a CWP traffic stop goes well. You be polite, informative and professional, and 99 times out of 100, the LEO will be, too. After all, both of you carry guns legally.

Sorry 'bout the ticket, but good on you for "manning up" and taking your medicine.
I had a LEO encounter Saturday afternoon. Sort of. My wife and I went for a drive. As we're coming down Rt-17, the state police have a license check set up. We stop, I pull my wallet out. Trooper asks for my D/L. I flip open the wallet, my CHP is exposed for a couple of seconds, then I flip it over to my D/L. Trooper looks at it. I ask "Do you need me to take it out?" He replies, "No, that's fine. Have a good afternoon." I nod and say "You too."
No mention of the gun. I have no idea if he saw the CHP or not.
We don't have to inform here.

Tint too dark, huh? Sunglasses. Way cooler than tinted windows and don't draw the attention of overly bored LEOs looking to raise municipal revenues. Plus, no one ever got a ticket for sunglasses being too dark.

Most courts will dismiss the tinted window with either a receipt from stero, gas station stating tint has been removed. Or you going to court take pics of the vehicle with clear glass. I would also include a snap shot with a newpaper in the photo on the vehicle, and save the newspaper to prove the date when the photo was taken.
