Same as the one in the Bud's ad, I think. If you navigate Colt's site, its under the XSE series, and its the only one that is a commander, aluminum frame, and .45ACP

The scandium framed S&W's are pretty lightweight even for being full size.

If I were to buy a Commander size I'd buy a Colt first and an S&W second.

I would not buy a Kimber even though I like their appearance. Kimber got the eye candy part right but has failed on the quality control part. If I want eye candy I'd buy either a Dan Wesson CBOB or an Ed Brown Executive Carry.

Given your choices I'd gladly buy the S&W because it's more versatile. But then I LOVE my S&W's and would buy more if SWMBO would let me.

And, as an aside, even though you buy SS, aluminum, or Scandium that doesn't mean you can forget to wipe it down at least weekly. I learned the hard way that even alloy frames WILL pit from sweat and salt.

I'd go with the Colt Commander, or a S&W1911PD in the 4 1/4" barrel.

I have a Kimber CDP Ultra (3" sub-compact) and a GSR Sig Sauer 4.25". The Kimber is a great EDC and use it in competition (local friendly non-professional) on a weekly basis. It has jammed once before I hit the 400 round mark. It seems very accurate and reliable now. I don't notice the recoil at all, but I used to shooting it. The GSR is heavier and a very good 1911 also. The only problem with GSR, is finding holsters. It isn't the standard 1911 deminsions.

I know your original question didn't include 3" models, but...

Its small... compact... thin... weighs 25 ounces... and carries 8 rounds of .45 ACP! What more could you want in an EDC piece?!

Kimber Pro-Carry II here. Mine has served as my reliable go-to EDC for a number of years now. I've never had to make any sort of modifications or anything. It's all stock as ordered from the manufacture and eats whatever I feed it.
