To the LEO's - How would you feel if...

You were in distress, out-sized or out numbered etc... by a perp or perps and a law abiding citizen/carrier seeing your struggle assisted you in apprehending the perp without your direct order to do so? In doing so the citizen helped you to commandeer the perp and take him into custody.

I think that video is a good example of where if citizens had not stepped in, it could have been very bad.

The guy pulled the trigger and was trying to shoot the officer, the only thing that kept it from firing was the officer was pushing back on the gun ..... and pushing the slide back enough that it wouldn't fire. However, I don't think it would have been long ... he would have shot her.

    Good for them.

I had watched that video in the past. He saved her life, without a doubt. If I were ever in need and a good samaratin assisted me, I would be very appreciative. Police Officers are human beings too, not supermen. A good guy is a good guy, uniform or not.

    How would I feel? Grateful.

This is not a comment about the situation here, but people need to use common sense when to help and when to stay out of the way. Many times, people approach me when everything is just fine, offering to help. Most of the time they are just in the way, causing a distraction that could be dangerous. But, if an officer is getting tuned up by a BG, by all means, live out your Chuck Norris fantasy. I'll buy dinner after its over.

Hell yes dinner, dancing, movie and a bottle of whatever you want is all on me.

LEOs - the referenced event turned out well without the use of a CCW firearm - this is, of course a good thing. My question is would your opinion change if the GG had been armed and, deciding that wrestling for a loaded Glock (or any other pistol) was a bad idea decided to shoot to stop the attacker?

    I'd change "Disable" to "Stop".

I am not LEO - I'd guess there would be a brief pause of shock, then you would most likely have the now retrieved weapon pointed at you and you had better be following instructions to the "T" and quickly.

    Oh yeah, don't miss.

Yeah, in that situation I don't think I would fire cause I'd probably hit the Police Officer. Unless I could get right up on him and shoot at an angle that if it over penetrated it wouldn't hit her.

If I was in a situation like that guy in Texas where I think the Officer has been shot and the BG is coming at me, I wouldn't hesitate.

Good for them, my thoughts are as Sixto's. Even in my current job, when someone approaches me, I am quick to ask if they live here or are family if not, they are professionally and nicely asked to leave so I only have to worry about the task at hand.

It's unfortunate that the gun didn't accidentally go off when the good guy took it from the bad guy.
