I used my CHL once... by accident. I was at the bank cashing a check and I meant to give the teller my driver's license. She looked at it funny for about a minute and then gave me the money. After she gave it back to me and I was putting it away, I realized that it was my CHL and apologized for the error. She said it was no problem and that it was fine for an ID.

I'm just one root in a grassroots organization. No one should assume that I speak for the VCDL.
I am neither an attorney-at-law nor I do play one on television or on the internet. No one should assumes my opinion is legal advice.

No, not for an ID ever. No point in carrying concealed if you are going to tell folks... Put it behind your Drivers License, so there is no mistake. (In SC they are same size, shape and design.) Show a LEO, if and when required, or use to purchase a firearm.

She didn't hand over more money than you expected and purple dye didn't explode in your hand did it?

Concealed is concealed. +1
I guess if it was the only ID I had (which would not be legal in NC as you have to have your driver's license or state ID on you when you carry along with the CC card) I would use as a last resort only if there was no other option.

Not if I can avoid it. Defeats the purpous of concealed carry if you broadcast it to everyone asking for ID. My permit stays in my wallet unless LEO asks for it. Period.

NC doesn't have a pic on it so it's useless as a second ID. Most places won't even take a bank card with a picture but will take a social security card. The SSA says you shouldn't carry the SS card so how convenient is that? I agree with those that post only LEOs should ever see it. It got me through a license check the other night with very minimal delay.

Not normally, but on the rare occasion that I may have needed a second photo ID, I believe I did once...can't remember when.

Here in Arkansas, several years ago the DL picture was placed on the CHL. It is recognized as a valid form of ID.
If I need a second identifier, I have no problem using it, in fact, I would rather use it than my Police I.D.

I have. I don't recall when it was, but I know I have. We don't have a picture on ours, but it does have the same address as my D/L.
I'll probably use it again if the need ever arises.
