I have used a mass fire arms identification card to get on flights before, but generally my passport works as my ID. I also still have a driverís license but I rarely drive, it just takes up space in my wallet.

The TN Handgun Carry Permit (printed vertically) is similar to the TN Drivers License (printed horizontally). I, (without realizing) pulled my HCP out at the airport recently and the person checking me in asked if I was armed when I realized I handed him my HCP instead of my TDL. Oops!!!

South Dakota doesn't have a picture, or a fingerprint. It has about all the same identifying info as your DL but its just a piece of laminated paper. When I got it in the mail I thought maybe it was a temp or something but nope thats just how South Dakota does it.

    No.

The Virginia CHP doesn't have a photo on it. Though, Connecticut's does look a little similar to a driver's license, so I could see how one of the above posters made the mistake of presenting the CCW.

No, unless CCW related. I carry 3 other Government issued ID cards with photo's on them to use.

Iowa has no picture CCW, just an incredibly large slip of blue paper that you can't easily fold tofit in your wallet except in the bill holder...

    Nope.

Actually, just a couple days ago I was presented with a situation where I had to consider it. I was in 7-11 getting a tobacco product and, as it is their policy to ID everyone that looks under 30 now, and I certainly look under 30, they asked for my ID. I said no problem and went to grab my license only to find it wasn't there - I had forgotten to take it home the night before when leaving a pool hall that held your license as collateral for their pool balls. The ONLY other photo ID I had that had both my name, picture, and date of birth on it was my CCW. I left.

Not only was I carrying at the time, but I had at least 3 people behind me in line, none of whom I wanted to advertise infront of, let alone the cashier.

It just seems to me nothing good can come of using your CWP as an ID.

No. It negates the purpose of concealed carry

MN has no picture. Actually, it looks like something you could make at Kinkos in about 15 minutes. It's surprising they didn't try to make it more official looking/harder to fake.

    Not intentionally.

the NM permit looks very similar to the DL.

It aroused too much curiousity one time when I had to buy some sudafed in Wisconsin. (which does not have any legal CC)

I keep my NM license in a different wallet, now.

My stepdaughter recently got her CC permit and she put it behind her DL. When she was preparing to board a plane to visit us, they asked for 2 forms of ID and she promptly pulled out her DL and her picture CCWP. That's when TSHTF. They pulled her off to the side and got a female cop to pat her down. My stepdaughter said it was more like rape. They nearly made her miss the flight. Moral of the story, don't use a CCW permit as a form of ID unless its after you've used your concealed weapon.
