Question Do you use your permit as identification?

My CCW permit is about 40 days away. In Idaho the permit looks much like a drivers license. Do you use it as ID when cashing a check ect. ? I can see pro and con over the issue. Your input is appreciated.

I was checking in to my University's testing center once and they asked me for 2 photo ID's........I promptly produced my DL and my CHL to which she stated that she wished more people carried such IDs!!

Pretty cool response, but I don't use it regularly.

Went to Brandsmart yesterday to buy a couple of A/C's for the apartments.
Paying with a credit card the cashier asks me for a photo ID.
My DL was not there, so I ave her my CCW; she said thank you, typed on the computer, gave me the cc and ccw back with the receipt; non-event.

Unless you are trying to advertise, why would you use it that way? You have a DL or state issued ID. That is what it is for.

Most people wouldn't even know if it was real and may not accept it as identification.

No, I don't but I always have several other picture IDs on me.

On a side note, are there any states that don't include a picture on their CCP?

My words exactly, IMO it's not meant to be displayed as a valid ID other than to identify that one has a license to conceal a handgun.

Kansas DL and CHL are identical except for expiration date.

One says DL, other says Concealed Carry License. Both have photo taken at DL office and are issued by the DL people.

Only other photo ID's that I have are a full size U.S. Passport and a Bank of America ATM/Debit card - neither of which I routinely carry.

New Hampshire non-resident P/R License does not have a photo.

Pennslvania, some counties, issues a non-resident License to Carry a Firearm (LTCF) paper only without a picture. This is done by mail but this is the last year to do it by mail. Next year it must be face to face.

Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

    Yup.

Only LEO's will see my permit, and I hope they never have reason to.

The only time that I use it as an ID (other than with an LEO, fortunately that hasn't come up yet) is when I'm buying a firearm here as that waives the waiting period on handguns here.

No, unless it is required that I show two forms of photo I.D. which has never happened.
