New to CC and will be traveling to Yellowstone National Park

I am new to CC and we are traveling to Yellowstone National Park and Galcier National Park soon. Traveling from Michigan to WY and MT. Going the south route along 80 and coming back the north route via 94 and 90. I know that IL and IA are no carry states. What should I worry about while traveling and does anyone have any experience CC'ing in Yellowstone NP since the law has changed this year?

Illinois is gonna be worse than Iowa... if you get caught. For Illinois, I would separate all the mags, unload them and keep them separate from the weapon.
    (but that's just me)

Iowa, loaded mags and unloaded pistol in same box out of driver's and passenger's reach, in a box too large to be concealed on the person. Or, as the sheriffs put it in their brochure:

An unloaded handgun may be transported in a
closed and fastened container or securely
wrapped package which is too large to be
concealed on a person, or inside a cargo or
luggage compartment where the handgun is not
readily accessible to any person in the vehicle.
An unloaded rifle or shotgun may be transported
if it is taken down or totally contained in a
    securely fastened case.

Federal Firearms Owners Protection Act lets you bring your guns across state lines provided your trip is uninterupted, you can lawfully posses said firarms at home and destination, and they are kept locked (in the trunk, or a box, if there is no trunk), unloaded, with the ammo seperate, and not in glove compartment or console.

Fast fix: Titan Gun Vault and magazine accessory box.

    Google it.

Please feel free to make comments about what I missed, made mistakes on, etc...

I went to Yellowstone last year and unfortunately couldn't carry then.

But I did go to Great Smoky Mountains National Park in April and I was carrying there.

I drove though IL and just kept the gun unloaded in a case in the trunk. As soon as we stopped for gas in Indiana, I got out and holstered up.

When in the park, the visitor centers and other like buildings will be off limits. They will be posted. The sign may be hard to see, so watch out for them. When I went hiking, all of the trails had signs saying no firearms and no to a couple other things. These signs were old and I did not have to follow the 'no firearm' part. When I went into places I couldn't carry, I had a gun case under the seat and locked with a cable to the seat frame (see link below).

Anyways, I had a great time and I carried everywhere except the buildings that were posted.

Have a great trip! Hope I get a chance to go to Glacier National Park soon. I was born near there, and I really want to go back.

I was just in Yellowstone two weeks ago and carried with no problem. I did have to stay out of some of the buildings since they were posted. Luckily, the restrooms were not posted. Here is a web site with the official Yellowstone gun laws.

I recently returned from the Tetons and Yellowstone. I started a thread on it and I've attached the link below. Bottom line, you can CC or OC in Yellowstone. The buildings are marked, although with a transparent sign at times stuck to a window. I've attached a picture of one in my OP that I completely missed due to the lighting. The presence of Rangers in the building made me think, ooops. Went back out and finally saw the sign.
