Concealed carry, which other country ?

Hi there, lucky Folks in the U.S.

It's nice to see how you argue over which gun or ammo you should use for concealed carry, how knowledgeable many of you are and how interesting this kind of forum gets.

Sadly, in Europe we can't even argue over such rights. Yes, we can have guns as a collector or sportsman, but concealed carry is nearly inexistent and perhaps more restrictive laws will come out from the European Communities Headquarters. But honestly, most are not complaining as indeed we can have all kind of guns and enjoy shooting them at the range, at least. Some will protect their home with it, too, I suppose.

    But to my question:
Where else in the World, because I think that many people outside the US are present on this forum, is concealed carry allowed for “normal” citizens, would be interesting lecture?

    Thank you for your comments,
    Steve

There are many countries with private Citizen CCW. There are even a lot in Europe. Austria, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia and Czech republic are the most notable.

As a side note. Just returned from Israel and all military personnel on or off duty are required to have their weapons with them at all times. Not uncommon to be walking down the street with several guys and girls carring full auto weapons. I was told by my guide that CCW for non military was not permitted.

Some states in the U.S. are much like Europe/Japan when it comes to concealed carry. My state- New Jersey, is one of those.

Welcome to the DC Forum from Delaware!

We have areas within our borders that are anti-gun! California, New Jersey and Illinois. We also have some cities that are very anti-gun, New York City, Washington D.C., and Chicago.

Check out the laws in Panama. Any legal resident or citizen can go through the process of getting a gun purchase license that lets you either purchase a gun in country, or import a gun you already own from abroad. If you can own it in Panama, you can carry it concealed without having to also get a carry permit. From what I've read, the purchasing/importing process can be long and expensive but it's relatively easy despite those points. It's near the top of my list of places to retire to assuming those rules are still around.

I believe Israel does allow open and concealed carry. When I was there, I noticed some older men carrying .45's in IWB small of back holsters. When I asked about it, I was told they were former Special Forces who still carry because they still have a price on their heads.
