I think I saw this in an older thread. Still cool though.

A quality holster makes the entire chart irrelevant.

It seems to assume that the handgun is carried loosely in a pocket or waistband, like what is typically associated with thugs.

It's not new...must have been 10-12 years ago first time I saw that chart...

yep, it's a repost... but so what... it brings it up as a reminder for those of us who have seen it... and it brings it to the fore for those who haven't....

many of our scenarios are tweaked rehashes... Many of our holster/carry options are as well... bullets and ballistics same thing...

but sometimes when you have new eyes on a thing... it is learning experience for all involved, eh?

Very old info. I guess that the chart could be right if you Mexican carry (alternative use a cheap holster) or just put the gun in your pocket without a holster

The people that this was designed to recognize tend to not wear holsters. If you ditch a gun, the holster shows you had one. If you are legal, that isn't an issue.

It is great info, knowing these things is a key part of knowing your surrondings and being ready to deal with possible situations.

I don't think the chart is irrelevant, for the very reason that you mentioned in your second statement. I (for one) would like to be able to spot a gun carried by a thug!

Oh I agree, it's good info on how to spot someone that is "up to no good".

My point was simply that the info is of limited usefulness for spotting a lawful concealed carrier.

    I agree with the above.
That chart only works if you are too stupid to know how to conceal a handgun.

If you are that stupid, you dont need to tote a gun anyway. You might hurt yourself.

Yeah, I knew it was an old chart but didn't know it was a repost. Be that as it may, I didn't see it in Dec. of '09, so, as it has been said, others may have missed it, too.

It was a chart developed by the NYPD Anti-Robbery Tactical Unit to helps patrol cops spot hidden handguns on potential crooks & thugs, not necessarily to profile legal carriers (if there were such a thing in NYC when the chart was made).

The chart hasn't helped me spot fellow gun-toters, but it has made me a little more aware of any signals I may be sending that I'm packing.
