    CCW in Big Cities

For those with experience with concealed carry in a big city, I am curious how it differs from more rural or small town carry. I imagine there are a lot more places you can't carry, etc. Is it more impractical or difficult to deal with big city life with a CCW?

I havn't found that to be true and I feel a lot better with my "pal" along in a big city..I don't go where I can't carry for the most part..In a larger city you will have a lot more choices where you spend your money if you do find a place posted..

I do avoid cities that are anti CCW.. I will be glad to get Iowa back at the first of the year..

Sorry for being off-topic but here lately in Richmond, I have seen about 6 people open carrying, including one today, at a gas station near my neighborhood. I have asked each one of them and some of them stated that they do get hassled by business owners. But none of them, from what I have heard, have been harrassed by cops.

Maine doesn't have a big city so I can't answer that question and Portland is not a big city. At least to me it is not.

I live in Las Vegas about 2 million here so it's pretty good sized and there are very few places I can't carry. It is very well received by the LEO's here, so you don't have to worry about getting hassled unless your acting like a fool. Only 2 of the casinos here are posted for no guns, other than that no schools, federal buildings, state, or city buildings and your free to carry.

I CC routinely in Houston, the fourth largest city in the country. Very few problems, but hey, this is Texas!

Well one sure difference is that since you generally need to rely on public transportation in a big city, you have no place to leave your weapon if you do need to enter an establishment where it is verboten.

I CC and OC in Indianapolis, if you consider that a big city. I have never had any problems except tonight when i saw some guys working on a car in my neighborhood that knew my neighbor and gave em a gallon of Sunny D. One guy looked at my hip, patted his and smiled, but other than the knowing look, thats the only problem i have

I carry everywhere in Detroit never had much problem, if they have a sign that they don’t want guns then they must not want my money. Very few places have such signs.

Florida is pretty good about concealed carry and there aren't very many places you can't carry. Even if a sign is posted, it carries no weight. The places you can't carry, for the most part, make sense such as courthouses, police stations, etc.

It would be nice if the state allowed open carry. Not that I would open carry, but if you're concealed carry were ever seen by accident and some jack freaked out, you'd be covered.

I have CCW in Denver, CO Louisville, KY Columbus, OH without any problems and very few NO WEAPONS signs. Signs are worthless in KY and CO. OH is a different story, I believe signs have the weight of law in OH. Also more off limits places by law in OH. The only problem in Denver is assualt weapons and OC. CCW is same as the rest of the state by state law.

i don't see any difference. i CC in orlando 99% of the time i'm out and about never had a problem. florida is pretty pro carry so i don't really expect any problems. driving to texas next week with my dad, don't expect any problems along the way either most of the states on the way are pretty good for CC as well. Just need to brush up on the dos and don'ts of those states

No problems in any of Virginia's cities, including Alexandria, which has some strong anti-gun sentiment. Then again, it's concealed. ;)

I can CC anywhere in Missouri except for schools, governments buildings, Metrolink, stadiums over 5,000, hospitals and a few other places. The state has preemption except for Open Carry in certain cities and counties. St. Louis and KC are cities where OC is not allowed. CC is generally no problem.
