And?
The DL and CHL are attached in many states. No surprise in what you heard.
Headline...................Permit holder is a good guy. No arrests made.
The DL & CHCL are connected in AR.
Kinda makes it public unfortunately. I know not everyone has a scanner, we all want to hear as much as possible on our scanners, and if we don't want our info broadcast we should not get pulled over but I wish there was a better way for dispatch to inform the LEO of course that would last until someone figured that out.
No big deal but this had come up in discussion before on whether or not to inform and whether or not the LEO would be aware of your CCW status if you did not. I said do it because the dispatcher will see it (DISCLAIMER I ONLY KNOW ABOUT MISSOURI) and you should be forthright even though you are legal. Some LEOs might not have a favorable view of CCW and I don't want an encounter to be any more stressful than necessary. Sheriff warned me that its the young ones freshly minted at the academy that you should be sure to inform.
Now, if only there was some way to ID those freshly mintified LEO's out there....
.
We have it the same here in Michigan also. It is tied to the drivers license, and to the plate. So if my wife is driving one of our vehicles, and they run the plate, because they are in my name, it will come back with CPL. FWIW.. Matt
In Ohio you must notify if you are carrying and it does come up on their computer screen that you have a CHL.
Mississippi CCW (firearms) permit is tied to your DL as well. MS is also a non notify state. Personally I think it's best to notify the officer asap so that everyone involved is on the same page.
A few months back I hit a deer that ran across the interstate in front of me. I called the MS State Troopers to report the carnage and have them come and fill out an accident report for my insurance co. When he asked me for my DL I told him that when he runs my license he will find out that I have one of these. When I tried to hand him my permit he hardly even glanced at it and said "I don't need that". Then he added, "You need to have one of those these days". No other mention of it was made. I was pleasantly surprised.
Florida is a non-notify state, and the CWP does not come up with the license.
Not in Georgia and my SSN is not tied to my Driver License. I cut that loose 20 years ago. My CCW does not report on that either. I have always had unlisted telephone lines and I do not show up anywhere. You can google and white pages search me, but the real me does not show up anywhere.
