The hope is that all armed citizens fully understand when the use of deadly force is justified but unfortunatley that isn't always the case. Good refresher and thanks for sharing.

    But, what
happens when the defender is being stomped to death, choked to death, or otherwise
believes a deadly force attack is imminent or underway? And, what if that
defender shoots one or more of his assailants, but they claim that they were only
beating him up, not trying to severely injure
    or kill him?
If being beat up is not a serious injury, then I don't know what is.

A single punch in the face can knock out your teeth or break your nose causing permanent disfigurement.

A single punch in the throat, appendix, or chest (over the heart) can kill a person.

the best defense is only shoot when really neccessary.

u must be really sure when to shoot the attacker if he is a grave threat. think about all the trouble you will go thru when you fire your sidearm for self defense it will help play a role in a justified shooting.

Why stand there and let it happen? Just leave.

Thanks for the post. Also bookmarked for future reading.
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

If every altercation could be avoided by just choosing to leave, then there would be no such thing as self defense law and no need for 2A rights.

I am not talking about any particular situation here but rather the defining circumstances as to when it is legal to use deadly force. This manuscript seems contradictory to me when it says that deadly force is justified to prevent serious injury, but then implies being beat up is not a serious injury...even though it is a fact that a single well directed punch can kill a person.
