Got pulled over, this is how it should go!

I was on my way to visit my friend in the hospital monday and my friend was following me. We were driving down I-40 in Knoxville when I noticed a KPD unit on the shoulder.

I was doing 65 in a 55 and changed lanes to get in front of my friend since she didn't know how to get there.

He walked up to my passenger side and told me why he stopped me. I was very nervous because this was my first time getting pulled over while carrying. I had my p238 in my front pocket and my XD .40 sc on my right hip(concealed)

He claimed I cut off the grey car(who was my friend) and that I didn't use my turn signal.(which was wrong, I did signal)

He asked for my ID and here is how it went down:

me: yes sir, but before I reach back there....
    him: you have a gun??!!!
me:yu yu yesssir, I have one on my hip and one in my pocket.
    him: that's no problem.
me:do I need to step out of the car?
him:no you're fine, a carry permit is the best investment you can get these days.

the rest of the stop went smoothly and he came back and told me that because I had an excellent driving record he was letting me go.

This was the most polite and professional officer I have ever met. I'm sure he could tell I was nervous and he handled the situation very well.

Did my carry permit get me out of the ticket? maybe, maybe not, but it sure didn't hurt. I hope that if i ever get pulled over again that things go this smoothly.

    Well done Sir........Well done.
As far as getting out of the ticket due to having a conceal carry permit!
Your guess is as good as mine, but it would be nice to think it helped....
In the future,i recommend doing the speed limit. No sense in making the
conceal carry community look bad by being a speed demon.Besides your friend was already in the hospital,no need to join him because of an accident that could have been avoided.

That's how it should always go. Most LEO types know that if you're telling them about the gun up front there's not much to worry about.

I just love to hear these stories. Every time I see a PSP on patrol following me, I rehearse in my head how I'm going to respond to the LEO. Fortunately, I usually don't give them a reason to pull me over. Only ever had one speeding ticket about 18 years ago.

Good it went the way it should. In some other states that would have been a LOT different and bad ending to your story.

I'm glad there are professional LEO's that recognize that we are not the bad guys!
