    Traveling across several states

    New to the forum:

I'm active duty military and have a conceal carry from Virginia. During my PCS move, i will be traveling on my motorcycle (by myself) and would like to carry it in my tank bag. I checked the reciprocity for VA and it does not have that many states on the list.

so am i screwed as far as carrying it for my protection?

Moving from KY to CA, going through the northern states to WA then heading south.

Greeting from the RGV of Texas.

I ride a bike too and there is not a very good way to carry for easy access. I have a shoulder rig and an IWB on order. Being right handed also is a disadvantage when you need the throttle. LOL

I always carried on my Harley...in my regular holster, without any problems. A quality holster and belt...it will stay in place just as it would in a car.

I also used a shoulder holster a few times, but I just didn't like the shoulder holster thing in warm weather. Traveling was OK, but in warm weather the coat/leather eventually comes off when you stop...then what?

I too, would avoid the tank carry. You may want to at least try a fanny pack for the trip.OMO

The only holster i could consider is the tactical thigh holster. That wouldn't be too uncomfortable, and definitely visible. my concern is, i don't want to get harrassed bye the leo's for bringing the thing for protection. Putting the gun in the tank bag and the magazine in the saddle bags wouldn't be conducive to having it readily available in an emergency.

OH, the only handgun i have is a desert eagle. so shoulder holster would be too cumbersome.

    Well....

    Thats something to think about...

.44/50cal...? Or .357? either way, I have to say the worst, but most complying with most states HG laws is Back pack.. When you cant...

Shoulder, Or OWB if you can find one before you trip...

really i don't think Leo's will really mess with you if you have on military uniform...

Welcome to DC.... And thank you for your service, Be safe in your trip...

If you changed to a southern route you would be in much more gun friendly territory. You also better check about bringing a handgun into the PRK. Arnold might not like it.

If i was heading straight to CA (not through WA) I would be going through the southern states.. I have a few friends in TX that i would like to visit. I guess i could put it in my camel back.

XDM, its a .44.. ammo is cheaper.
