Carrying and gym locker rooms
Hey everybody,
Sorry if this has been asked before, but the search function seems to be failing me since the forum was updated.
I have about 5 days left before my permit arrives, but I am curious how you all might handle this scenario. I plan on carrying daily everywhere I go IWB (Supertuck), but I'm not sure how to handle a gym locker room. The holster hides very well but only when on securely fastened pants...
There are times when there are quite a few people in there and I'm wondering if maybe I should take it out and place it in my gym bag before I arrive to avoid anybody becoming alarmed.

The lockers in my gym have been broken into several times. I feel safer with mine in the COM safe installed in my truck. YMMV

I agree with CenCal, gym lockers are too theft prone to leave a gun in one.

Do not trust the lockers at LA Fitness. I've seen several cases where the wooden louvers have been knocked out and everything pulled out and in one case a LEO's firearm was taken. They also have arrested a couple of women for cutting the locks off.
I'd trust it locked in a car before I trusted gym lockers.

My primary stays in my car which I can see through the glass windows the entire time I work out, and my P3AT goes in my strong-side short pocket. I just have to twist my shorts to the side when doing deadlifts so I can lockout correctly or any movement in particular that involves weight right at my waist. Also, if your doing aggressive rowing exercises, hanging knee raises, etc. make sure your pistola doesnt dump out onto the ground!

If you're going to carry one weapon, might as well carry two, because as the saying goes, "Two is one, and one is none."

As to your intial question as how to get your gun concealed, just step into a stall with your bag and put on your holster. I've never locked my pistol in any locker, but I have had to remove and put on a rig in public places before and that was my solution.

Flimsy...flimsy...flimsy! Get a lock box for your car...out of sight. Lifetime Fitness here in MN has had a rash of car break ins as well.

Locked away in a box out of sight it is. I don't want to trust the flimsy locks either, now that I think about it. Thanks for the info everybody!
In other news, my permit arrived yesterday! No longer a sheep!

+1 - would not think of leaving mine in a gym locker - ever!

Good thinking!
I belong to a large gym in Gainesville, FL (30,000 members)
The lockers have a tendency to become 'opened' on occasion...a number of ways.
I either wear my P-3AT in an SOB holster and do my thing, or leave my Glock in the trunk in a CoM Safe.

There was a thread a couple of months ago that discussed this very thing. The bottom line is: DO NOT leave them in the gym locker.

I would carry it, not store it. A simple fanny pack would suffice. If you think it would get "noticed," then go to the dollar store and by a pair of ear phones and just let them dangle out an inch or two to make it look like you have your music playing inside.

Yep, never leave anything of value in a gym locker. At my gym I accidently put my key in the wrong locker one day and guess what? It opened!
Don't trust a gym locker - they are only there to keep honest people honest.

Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and leave the gun home or in the car

I guess I would recommend finding a carry method rather than not carrying. YMMV
