Centre County still the place to go?

I am getting back into the swing of things, have not carried since the start of the year due personal issues. Anyways, I have my Ohio CHL and am looking at adding PA to the loop since I may have to travel to Texas again next year (had to make a trip last month). I figure PA is cheaper than a TX permit and also faster. Just curious if Centre County is the place to go. My birthday is just over a week away, so this will be a birthday present to myself.

If Denny Nau is still sheriff, yes, Centre County is the place to apply.

If you mail your application early Monday and have it all correct, you might receive your permit by your birthday.

Thanks for the fast reply. I have the application printed and signed, not dated. I made the mistake of putting my age one year older than I am (wont be that age until my birthday on the 19th). I will send it on the 19th just to be legal. I wont need the permit for awhile, so no huge rush on it.

Yeh, I'll be doing something similar later this month. I'll be mailing my daughter's application the morning of her birthday.

My guess is you'll have your PA permit about a week after you send off the application, assuming you don't hit any snags.

I'd be contacting the Sheriff's office personally if I were you. Yes, Sheriff denny Nau is very pro 2A, but things have changed in PA. It is my understanding that either now or in the near future, all applications, new or renewal, must be done in person.

I think they said it was March when they stop accepting mailed in applications. The website still list the items to mail, so that should be good, will call them before sending it.

More information on Texas for you.

Their permit is widely accepted BUT, you must take a course IN Texas.

If you're going there anyway, you might want to make arrangements to take a course while there.

I'm one of those that believes that you can't have too many permits.

Danny is still in charge there Just make sure you get your out of state PA permit before 2011 after that you will have to appear in person in PA for a Photo & if you cant or dont you will not be able to hold a non res PA permit any longer, I called Danny Nau office last week & this is true it's a new PA non res law going into effect in the beginning of 2011, my PA permit expires in May 2011 but I am sending in my Renual in NOV. this year to avoid that problem for $26.00 it's worth the early renual for me/
