It depends much on the clerk's attitude.

    1. If he had been snide or sarcastic, I'd just ignore his comment and go on about my business.
    2. If he had been attempting to be truly helpful, I'd just said, "yep".
Turn the election's in 2014 to a "2A Revolution". It will serve as a 1994 refresher not to "infringe" on our Second Amendment. We know who they are now.........SEND 'EM HOME. Our success in this will be proportional to how hard we work to make it happen.

"Yes I do. Thanks! Working here, you should probably get one, too. What do I owe you?"

I carry pretty deeply concealed... IWB tuckable... If it was noticed, I ain't carrying concealed enough. I don't know if this clerk is anti-gun or not... but if he noticed, he is at least alert, and concerned for his own safety (so he's not a typical "sheep"). If he wants to talk about it and I have time, I'll have a little pleasant conversation with him. (doin' my part to win "hearts and minds" See #3 in my sig)
    It could be worse.

I was coming home from a bar last night and stopped at a gas station to get a drink for one of the girls in the car.
When I was paying I had put money in my front right pocket where my gun is and I think the clerk saw the handle as I was pushing money down past the back of the gun cuz he half froze and pulled back while giving me my change and when I went to pickup the drunk and dropped my shirt he just handed it to me with a smile.
I guess it just depends on the situation. I don't exactly fit the middle aged warm father american look. Probably more like someone who'd rob him. heh.

A simple "Yes I do and then say something to the affect" that I'll have to conceal better next time" would be just appropriate. I love all the responses that could lead the clerk to call the cops and who knows if you get the right officer the clerk could say you were brandishing your weapona and he spotted it and remarked and then it went down hill from there.
