First time pulled over while armed

Saturday night I took my girlfriend to a 9:50 movie and we got out at around 12:00. I was on the way home and came over a hill and saw the 5-0 sitting on the bottom of the hill when it was too late. I looked down and realized i was doing 15 over and he turned on the cruiser headlights and I just pulled over. I was the only one on the road and I knew I was caught. He then turned on the blues and pulled up behind me.

As soon as I pulled over I turned on my headlamp, got out my CCW Permit, License, and Insurance and handed it to him when he walked up to my window and kept my hands on the steering wheel.

Officer: "How are you doing tonight, sir?"
Me: "I'm doing alright, how are you doing?"
Officer: "Great, I pulled you over because you were going 15 over the posted limit."
Me: "Yes sir, I completely understand, I apologize."
Officer: "So I see you have your CCW permit, are you currently armed?"
    Me: "Yes sir."
Officer: "Where is the firearm located, just so we're on the same page here."
Me: "Its on my right hip, sir."
Officer: "Any particular reason you carry?"
Me: "In case I need to shoot something."
Officer: "Haha, I don't blame you, I keep my weapon on me all the time, never know what threats may come up. You seem like a responsible citizen, I just going to let you go tonight with a courtesy citation. Just slow her down a little bit and stay under the speed limit."

He hands me back my license, ccw, and insurance.

Me: "Yes sir, not a problem. Again, I apologize for going too fast."
Officer: "It's ok, just keep that heavy foot off the gas so much, and don't forget to always have your gun on you. I always pull over CCW holders who don't have their firearms with them. Kinda pointless if you ask me."

Me: "I agree. Have a great night officer."

And I pulled off. That was it. I don't think it could have gone any better. Some of you will say I shouldn't have answered why I carry and said "none of your business" or some smart ass response, but I think being a jerk like that would have landed me the ticket and unnecessary hassle. Like they say the golden rule is, He who has the gold - makes the rules. I may not be required to answer that question, but it just makes life easier if I do.

    Thoughts anyone?

By the way, you're response, "In case I need to shoot something" made me crack up!

The only time unfortunately you may get a load of crap about carrying most times is from a Rookie new from the Academy and not so far removed from college where too much liberal rhetoric that is guided by out of touch wacko liberal professors and unfortunately to a degree many Public school teachers with the same ideology is still a part of these young minds. The same group who get all worked up over freedom of this and freedom of that which stops at the idea in the Second Amendment that demands freedom of self preservation. It does not take too many years doing this job to see that though we wish we could protect and serve everyone all the time the fact is we usually just mop up the mess and document it. I'm glad you had a good experience and I would be willing to bet the guy who pulled you was a Veteran Officer. I train all my recruits to always be vigilante and not to freak out every time a firearm is present especially in my neck of the woods were everyone is armed.

Now that's a good 'cop stop', and not getting a ticket is just another plus.

Your response to his question was funny, but probably bolder than I would have been! I think I'd go with the "Because cops are too heavy to carry around." That way you can blow up their ego a little bit. Sounds like you had one with a good sense of humor. Good stop.
    Carry on my friend~~

If they don't have a firearm, why are they informing, unless it pops up on DL check? No so in FL.

I believe, not sure though, in Mississippi its flagged when they call in our DL Number? Also, I've just handed over the information before as part of my ID + Insurance when I didn't have my gun on me so Idk.
